Local business and education leaders recently came together to discuss the critical role a regional community college will play in strengthening workforce development across Northumberland, Snyder, Union, and Montour counties. The Susquehanna Valley Community Education Project (SVCEP) hosted the Business Leaders Forum, creating a space for collaboration and forward-thinking strategies to meet the needs of today’s economy.
During the event, participants emphasized that this initiative is not about creating a traditional community college. It’s about building a modern, agile institution designed to serve as a workforce development powerhouse. As one speaker noted: “If you’re creating a new community college that looks like any other, you’re doing it wrong. This needs to be the community college of the future—a lean, mean workforce development team.”
